We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization committed to bringing awareness about the hidden dangers of the internet to our children and teens, such as cyberbullying, self-harm, cyberdares i.e. (Knock-out challenges/ Blackout Challenge) and helping families cope with grief after losing a loved one.
At the Matthew E. Minor Awareness Foundation, we don't just believe in advocacy; we live it. Our proactive approach ensures that our mission to protect children online is always in action.
We have established a scholarship fund for local college-bound students in the DC, MD, and VA areas to further their future educational goals.
The Matthew E. Minor Awareness Foundation was created to honor 12-year-old Matthew E. Minor. He transitioned on March 7th, 2019. Matthew passed away as a result of the Choking/Black-out challenge on Youtube & Tik Tok
Matt, as he was affectionately known, was the kind of kid that helped anyone he met. He showed new kids around the school. He was considered the "ambassador" of his academy for his likability and openness.
We sincerely believe that with your help, we can bring awareness to Cyberbullying & Cyber-dares, Black-out, and Knock-out challenges. We strive to raise funds for our scholarship fund to help college-bound students with scholarship money for their future educational goals.
